5. Set its value to 1.

Since this code contains PDF Share Forms form submission code, it should replace standard code associated with “Save” button. To replace code, select “Save” button and click Actions button on the ribbon. Here we need to remove standard JavaScript code (click on the close button) and add custom (click on Javascript action in the menu on the left and drag-n-drop it in the main window). Click on the green field “enter script” and paste your code here. Press ok and deploy the form.

Now, when new form is going to be submitted, user must accept terms and conditions in the form – the only correct state for the check box element is “checked”.

Here we’ll learn how to return Firefox to its default status and use Acrobat Reader to work with PDF files. It’s only couple of steps, but please pay attention to details.

So, first of all we need to open Tools → Options. Settings dialog window will open. Go to Application tab. Find every content type somehow connected with PDF. It could be Adobe Acrobat Forms Document, Adobe LiveCycle Designer Document, PDF document, Portable Document Format (PDF).

Click to each of required content types and choose action from the Action column. In drop down list choose “Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)” if you wish documents to be opened inside the browser’s window. Choose “Use Adobe Acrobat” if you wish documents to be opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Please note, Mozilla will display “Adobe Acrobat” even if you only have Reader. So it is ok.

Let’s say, we wish to have sender’s e-mail address and subject to be stored in the form. Then we need to add corresponding fields in the form: EmailFrom and EmailSubject.

Now it’s time for script.

Go to “Developer” tab and press “Form Submit” button. Drag and drop “Execute script” option from the list on the left. Place it above “Save Form” option. Click on the “enter script” field. Usually it’s green color. And input your script.

Compile script. If it is ok, save it. And deploy the form. Let’s see, what we have now. Now, when form is filled-in and sent to server, data from the original mail will be synchronized with the SharePoint columns and with the form itself.

If your organization uses PDF forms for the collaboration with external users and they do not have access to your intranet, than you do need to have support for the offline forms. With PDF Share Forms Enterprise you may setup anonymous data submission directly to the SharePoint library or make a form deliverable via e-mail. Submitting through the e-mail is also unbeatable way of mobile collaboration with your remote workers or customers — PDF form could be filled-in on Apple iPad or Google Android devices and sent to the server via mail only.

Basic e-mail support

By default SharePoint is able to receive incoming e-mails and store attached files in the corresponding library. To enable this functionality go to the „Library setting”, then „Incoming e-mail settings” and enter e-mail address.

Please note! You need to have a mail server configured and Incoming Email Settings setup correctly to use e-mail submission option.

Now all the attachments sent to the corresponding mail address will be saved in the library.

Full featured offline support

To enable full PDF forms functionality, such as a bi-directional data synchronization between PDF form fields and SharePoint columns, go to „Library settings”, then to „PDF Share Forms Enterprise Settings”.

Here you can choose form template and select the way you wish to use it. There are two options: Desktop or Mobile. Since mobile platform does not support any built-in scripts, form on the iOS or Android devices must be sent by e-mail manually. Now we can download the copy.

Please note, you can work with multiple copies of the form with different options simultaneously.

To have e-mail submission enabled, please check if incoming mails are enabled. Choose whenever you want to have original mail saved or not. Do not forget to save settings (I always do).

Now we need to check form settings. Select the form and Launch Designer on it. Click Settings button and check „Anonymous submit” option. Choose submission type.

If you plan to fill the form in the circumstances, where Internet is unavailable, choose „Submit by e-mail” option. If you wish to publish your form on organization’s homepage, you may prefer „Direct submit” option.

Please note, if you choose „Submit by e-mail” option, form data will be submitted directly if form opened and filled-in within the SharePoint site.

Now we are ready to save changes and deploy the form.

Standard Word and PDF forms are plain and boring and you do want to add a sparkle to it, you do wish to attract your customers and partners… It is easy with Adobe InDesign, it is really easy with PDF Share Forms. Now we’ll learn how to create pretty forms in Adobe InDesign CS6 or earlier edition and deploy it to SharePoint library.

First, make a concept of form and create a design after that. When you have finished your graphical exercises, you’re ready to add form elements to the form. It is really easy with InDesign CS6. Choose Rectangle Tool (M) and draw your future text fields, radio buttons, etc. With the standard Type Tool (T) add text labels to the form elements.

When finished, open toolbar “Buttons and Forms” (Window → Interactive → Buttons and Forms). Select corresponding field (frame) and choose its type from the “Buttons and Forms” toolbar window. Type the name for this field and try to use clear and understandable words, so you can recognize what you meant. Choose other options, such as “Required”, “Read only”, etc, if needed.

Repeat procedure for every field. And you’re done! Wasn’t it really easy? Now just export this form to PDF and deploy it to the SharePoint library.

In case you do not have CS6, you still can make fancy forms with InDesign. After PDF export, open it in Adobe Acrobat Pro or PDF Share Forms Enterprise Designer. Drag interactive elements from the list, align, give names to the fields, and finish your form.
